Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Srpska, Nedeljko Čubrilović, and director of PE "Airports of the Republic of Srpska", Miroslav Janjić, held talks in Banja Luka with the delegation of financial institutions in Sri Lanka who expressed interest in providing funds for expansion of the International Airport of Banja Luka and its equipping for freight traffic.delegation was led by Sujith Amarasekeara, director of "Netway Marketing (International) Limited" and Bandula Weer Wardana, whose company operates in the UK, in accordance with the regulations of the European Union, represented by Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi from Ras Al Khaima from the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Arab Emirates Aleksandar Dragičević.
At the meeting they agreed that the company "Airports of the Republic of Srpska" should revise the plan for the development of the Banja Luka Airport and prepare the project, after which they would start negotiating the terms and approval of funds, for which it will be necessary to obtain an approval from the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
Minister Čubrilović said that the International Airport of Banja Luka has very favorable conditions for the development of passenger and freight air traffic in particular, because it is next to the highway in the immediate vicinity of the border with the European Union.
Minister Čubrilović welcomed the intention of the interested financial institutions to invest in the Republic of Srpska and said that the Ministry of Transport and Communications would provide all information necessary for the implementation of projects in the field of transport infrastructure, announced the ministry.
